The pros and cons of transfer explained by TV presenter Nick Ross
Bracknell Forest Council wanted to transfer its housing stock to a new housing association, in order to raise enough money to improve the homes and the services for tenants.
Sightline produced a DVD to explain the complex issues to tenants, who had to decide
whether the transfer should go ahead.
We asked TV presenter Nick Ross to
investigate the pros and cons. This involved interviews with councillors, officers, and tenants, inter-cut with relevant footage, and graphics to underline the important detail.
We sent copies of the DVD to the 6,000 tenants, including a sub-titled version for people with hearing difficulties.
A few months later, in a ballot the majority of tenants voted "yes" for transfer, and Bracknell Forest Homes was launched.
