Getting Into Construction
The building contractor Rydon joined forces with Hyde Group and The Prince's Trust to provide training opportunities in the construction industry to jobless young people living in Islington.
Hyde is regenerating the entire Packington estate in Islington and Rydon is the main contractor. The young people underwent a short course on the estate site and then a number were selected for full time apprenticeships.
Sightline is making a documentary about the Packington for Hyde and so we were asked to make this short film about how the "Getting into Construction" scheme works.
This clip shows the young people talking about this valuable opportunity. "All we want is to be given a chance ..." says one of them.
